SMART WORKSHOPS
The Fortune Society’s SMART Workshops program nurtures imagination, self-expression, identity, and communication through immersive arts wellness experiences led by professional BIPOC artists. Designed for youth in underserved communities, the program expands access not only for those facing economic barriers, but also for those with limited exposure to diverse cultures, perspectives, and role models.
Through hands-on creative experiences, participants explore new perspectives, engage with diverse artistic and cultural traditions, and develop the confidence to express themselves authentically. In a safe and supportive environment, youth strengthen communication skills, build emotional resilience, and learn to appreciate, respect, and engage thoughtfully with cultures, identities, and experiences beyond their own.
Mentorship is a cornerstone of the program. Participants learn alongside professional BIPOC artist-mentors whose lived experiences, creative journeys, and entrepreneurial success offer powerful examples of what is possible. These relationships provide guidance, inspiration, and meaningful representation while encouraging youth to envision new opportunities for their own futures.
Through SMART Workshops, young people cultivate creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding, empowering them to grow as confident learners, engaged community members, and future leaders.
